Hmmmmm…….. Tuesday, Jan 31 2012

Just in case any of you were wondering……………YES, IT IS MONDAY AGAIN! 🙂

However, it hasn’t been a bad day, it was busy.

  • 8:15-9:15am–Step Class
  • 10:00am–Coffee with the Marine Wives.  This is normally the highlight of my month.  Especially since we live on an Army Post and ther are so few of us Marine Wives.  Great group of women.  I am exctied about leaving Kansas in approximately 4 months, but I am going to miss these gals so much.
  • kids out of school
  • help with homework
  • oldest one picked up from basketball
  • cook dinner
  • do laundry

And the list goes on and on.

Speaking of cooking dinner.  I know I told you all on Friday that I would post a second one and well, I forgot.  Friday night I cooked Chicken and CousCous from my e-mealz menu.  Let me just say, “Not Great”.  For starters, it had way too much bell pepper and I wasn’t really fond of the golden raisins that the recipe called for.  If you would like the recipe, just let me know and you can try it for yourself.

Tonights dinner: Sausage, Collards and Bean Soup

This meal was delicious!

Body pump tomorrow! 🙂 This weeks goal is to spend at least 5 hours in the gym.  Wish me luck 🙂

Do you have any goals for the week?

RV SHOW! Friday, Jan 27 2012

I am very excited about the weekend being here.   However, it is going to be a busy one.  At 9am tomorrow morning my oldest has a basketball game.  Then, we are going to the WWI Museum with some friends and the middle son has to babysit.  I will be one tired person tomorrow.  Sunday it’s off to church for 11am and then on to Kansas City again for an RV Show.  I am looking forward to both days but I really like to look at RV’s.   My husband and I bought our first RV  last April.  We LOVE IT and so do the kids.  Some of them are sooooo nice.  Being a military wife, it is more practical to look and dream in the RV market than in the housing market.  Mainly because the RV can go with you anywhere you go.  With a house, you have to wait until you are closer to retirement to do much dreaming.  But I will take it…..:)

I hope you all have a great weekend!  Do you have a busy or relaxing weekend?

By the way, there will be a short post from me after I cook dinner.  Just to let you know how the Chicken and CousCous works out…..

Until then…………….

DOWN! :) Friday, Jan 27 2012

I had to be very careful with the name of this blog post.  I was thinking about “Going Down”, “Happily Down”, and “Down in a happy way”!  Bottom line heIre, there is no right way to put that depending on who may see this blog, if you get what I mean…..lol.  Truth is, I am down 3 more lbs! YAY!  That is such an awesome feeling especially seeing how I haven’t been able to complete one full week in the gym for whatever reason.  I will do better next week for sure.  It is really motivating when you see results.

I am hoping not to take up too much of your time but I have two nights of menu to report.  Last night I did not post  because I did not feel well.  I had been to the doctor.  Oh doctors!! I am glad we have them, but sometimes they make you think harder than you should about some things. For instance, she told me that Kansas hasn’t had a hard enough freeze for long enough to kill the mold spores…………….Say What?  Guess I can probably safely say they may be the problem with my allergies..Ya Think!?  I am stuffy 24 hours a day.  Wanna bet these old houses have mold spores?  Oh well as long as I do not get any worse, I only have to live here for 4 more months…..Not sure if that is good or bad! :p

On with the post…………..

I did in fact make it to step class yesterday.  It felt so nice to be back.  For breakfast, banana.  Lunch, I had a salad with tomato, and cucumber oh and some clean tortilla chips I bought from Whole Foods.  For dinner, I used my e-mealz menu and made turkey burgers. (Pic below)  Now, I have to say, these were very different.  They were not made with bread crumbs.  Instead they were made with old fashioned oats.  I was very impressed and so was the rest of the family.  Even the 9 year old.  Served with Chips and Cantaloupe!  Did you know that plain Lays potato chips are mostly clean?

For today.  Well, today I totally broke the rules.  I had 2 pieces of whole wheat toast.  For lunch and snack………wait for it……………wait for it……………ok now that you are wondering, I had popcorn, diet coke, and milk duds! EEEK.  Side story-Me and 2 of my Marine Wife friends decided that we wanted to go see a movie.  And so we did just that.  What is a movie without popcorn, what is popcorn without carbonation, and well, the  milk duds were just icing on the cake. LOL .  Don’t worry, I balanced it all out with dinner 🙂  Again, I used my e-mealz menu.  Tonights dinner, Grilled Cheese with Jalepenos! (pic below)  These were made with cream cheese, mayo, Monterey jack, and jalepeno slices on Wheatberry bread made by Earth Grains.  Mostly clean.  It was delicious.  My family didn’t partake so they had BLT’s.  I served grapes and pita chips with this meal!

By the way, we saw the movie Joyful Noise!  It was so good. 🙂  I totally recommend you see it too.  I would actually watch it again.  It was nice to see a movie in the middle of the day.

Now, I get to go eat some fruit…lol.  No really, I have to get my things together for step class tomorrow.  We are having Chicken and CousCous tomorrow night and I cannot wait.

Have a great night!

Easy, Clean, and Yummy Dinner Wednesday, Jan 25 2012

Remember a couple of weeks ago I told you that I had joined www.e-mealz.com?  Well, tonight I made my first meal from their plan.  It was DELICIOUS!  Even the hubby and the kids liked it.  I was able to get my shopping done today for two weeks worth of menus.  I was pleasantly surprised when the cashier told me my total.  I bought several items (staples) outside of the menu that my family needed.  Are you ready for this?  I spent under $200.  Yep, that’s right.  If I keep this up, that means my grocery bill for a family of 5 for a month should come in under $500!  You cannot beat that.  Not to mention, the meal was extremely easy to make.  I signed up for the natural and organic menu, therefore, I bought as many “clean” ingredients as I could and that was most of them…….There were a couple of things I wasn’t able to get but that just means I get a trip to Whole Foods….Yay! 🙂

These are Shredded Pork Tacos.  I apologize for the picture being a little out of focus.

Here we have:

Shredded Pork Tenderloin (seasoned with cumin, pepper, salt, coriander, chili powder)

Sour Cream

Roasted Corn with bell peppers and jalapenos

Served on a Flour tortilla (not so clean 😦 and topped with pepper jack cheese Kinda clean)

This dish was awesome.  The Roasted corn mixture was supposed to be served on the side but as you can see, I wanted it in my taco…..lol

If you get the chance to get over to www.e-mealz.com to check it out, I say it is totally worth it.  Especially if you are a busy person.  I know I am…..

As for the gym today, I was still feeling kinda under the weather so I took off.  But have no fear, I am all in tomorrow.  I cannot wait to get back.  It stinks not getting my work out in.

Well have a great night!

A Blah Kind of Monday! Tuesday, Jan 24 2012

I know it’s really no surprise to have a bad Monday but come on.  I woke up this morning feeling really badly.  Sinus and allergy problems are no fun.  It really makes for an ineffective day.  Therefore, no Body Step for me today 😦 and seeing how I do not feel 100%, there will probably be no gym for me tomorrow either 😦  I really hate this because it makes me feel so lazy.  There once was a time when I would welcome the opportunity find any excuse not to go to the gym.  Since I started cleaning up my eating habits and making the gym a priority, I really hate to miss.  I schedule everything around it.  But that’s ok.  I guess it’s better to get myself well so that I do not over exert and end up in worse shape.

With that said, my oldest had a basketball game at 7pm.  Weird time but it is a tournament.  These games normally do not have concession because they aren’t long enough.  Well, tonight this school had popcorn.  I smelled it as I sat down.  Yes, yes I did indulge.  I had popcorn and soda and starburst and skittles and that’s it.  Now, I didn’t have all of those by myself.  We shared them between 4 of us and 2 of those being children.  It was just something I was wanting. 🙂

I am cutting it short tonight because I had to take benadryl and I cannot be held responsible for I type under the influence…..lol

Have a great night!!!!!!

It’s Finally Friday! Saturday, Jan 21 2012

Yay for the weekend!  This weekend is going to be busy.  First, I am going to go through my pantry and take out all of the food that we are not going to eat.  This comes about because I find myself going in there everynight to find something to cook for dinner.  I move boxes and cans and packages that I do not want to cook because it is neither clean nor healthy!  So, this weekend I have decided to purge it and fill it with clean, healthy foods.  I will be shopping for my menu from www.e-mealz.com  I am going to be donating this food to someone that can use it.  :)I am also hoping to make it to the gym.  There are no classes for me to attend in group fitness, so I guess I will just run.  That isn’t such a bad idea.  There should be a 5k in the spring and I need to gear up for that.  Next, Saturday night out with friends and family.  Should be fun.  Last, Church on Sunday and then hopefully a nap afterwards.  I love going to Church with the family on Sunday and then coming home to a nap.

Todays eating was ok.  For breakfast, Special K vanilla bar. Lunch, Jasons Deli.  If you haven’t been there you should try it, if there is one near you.  I had a veggie mufalatta (sp?).  It was so yummy.  These things are huge.  I ordered 1/4 sandwich and a small cup of gumbo.  That was enough food for two meals.  Therefore, I had the other half for dinner.  Side Story: The menu said “Cajun Gumbo”.  I asked the girl if the Gumbo was good.  She tells me that it is like New Orleans Style Gumbo.  Ok, I tell her I am from Louisiana and it is really hard to find that type of Gumbo anywhere else.  Come to find out she has never had “Louisiana” Gumbo.  LOL!  Sweet girl, but she really needs to have some of “OUR” gumbo.  The Gumbo was good by the way.

Do you have big plans for the weekend?  Will you stay on track with eating and exercising over the weekend?

🙂 Whatever you plan, have a great weekend!!!!!

Where or where is the snow? Friday, Jan 20 2012

When we moved here in June, everyone said make sure you buy snow shovels, snow pants, snow gloves, ice melt for the driveway and so on and so forth.  Well guess what, NO SNOW!  I’m sorry we did have a teeny tiny bit of snow but nothing that I needed a shovel for.  According to what people told us, I am still waiting for this massive amount of snow.  My hubby says no way.  However, if it snows like that I get to stay at home and be lazy.  It isn’t often that you get a good excuse to be lazy.  🙂

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Today was actually one of those lazy days for me.  I skipped the gym today 😦 I know, how horrible of me.  I was just tired.  Between this head cold I have been trying to come down with and going to bed at 1:30 in the morning, I just couldn’t function.  Therefore, I ran my errands and took a nap.  I really hate to miss my work out though.  So, I am adding to my 2012 resolutions goals.  GO TO BED EARLIER!

My breakfast today was a Special K granola bar….it was pretty good.  Lunch was at Charleys Subs….don’t worry I ate a veggie sub and only half of the bread.  However I did eat all of my fries….so yummy.  For dinner, I guess you could say it was a taco salad.  Lettuce, tomato, vegetarian refried beans with sour cream (light), and a little taco sauce.  Served with Clean tortilla chips bought at Whole Foods.

So my husband decides to tell me tonight that we were invited to a Ball for the Army.  This comes after I skipped the gym today, lol.  What does this mean?  It means that I cannot miss the gym anymore.  I have at least 10 more pounds to lose before this event in March.  Being a Marines wife, I have to look my absolute best 🙂  I am very excited about this because 1) I have never been to an Army Ball and 2) Motivation to not be lazy. lol .  The Race Is On!

Well have a great night everyone.  I look forward to reading your blogs.

Censored? Thursday, Jan 19 2012

What is up with wordpress?  Did anyone else notice the Censor on all of the blogs?  I cannot believe it.  It has hit wordpress.  Amazing!

Yesterday was an ok today for me.  I forgot to eat breakfast.  No really I forgot.  I normally take something with me on the way to the gym but it totally slipped my mind.  Wonder if it has something to do with getting older….lol.  For lunch me and a friend went to On the Border, I didn’t do too bad but I was extremely full when I left.  For dinner, I had some Kashi cereal.  As I was eating I realized that they also make Kashi bars.  Those would be perfect to take to they gym.  I also went online tonight and looked at their website.  They have some awesome tips on how to recycle.  You may want to check it out.  www.kashi.com 🙂

Today was a great day.  We started Body Step 86.  Our instructor wasn’t telling a fib when she said this one would be harder.  WOW!  I know it sounds silly but I do enjoy a challenging work out.  There is one move in our new program that she refers to as the running man…Do you remember the running man?  I sure do.  For breakfast I had a 365 (from whole foods) whole grain strawberry bar.  For lunch I sat down with a bowl of Kashi cereal, took two bites and realized that I have red grapes and aged white cheddar in my fridge.  I love aged white cheddar.  This also came from the whole foods store.  I took a few more bites of my cereal and Yes I dumped it.  I fixed myself a plate of Grapes and Cheese.  I don’t know about you but I love grapes and cheese.  Especially the right cheese.

Now for dinner, well I guess I can’t leave it out…..My oldest had a game an hour away that didn’t start until 6pm.  As you can already imagine, we didn’t get out of there until after 7.  With an hour drive back home there was no way I would be able to make a meal for the family.  We stopped at pizza hut.  I didn’t do too bad.  I started with a salad.  I ate pasta and bread.  I am going to give myself this one because I cannot tell you the last time I had pasta from pizza hut.  It was oh so yummy.

Last but not least, my middle son has become very interested in making stop motion videos.  His goal are to make video games and work for Sega one day.  If you get the chance you can view his short clips on www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq_ljMbToxo&feature=share .  Hope you enjoy.

What a Weekend! Tuesday, Jan 17 2012

My weekend has been kind of slow.  I am still in complete shock that the Saints lost on Saturday!  I was so happy for my boys until the 49ers had to make that last touchdown.  I was literally sick to my stomach.  It is ok though, I know the next season will be a great one.  No matter what, I love me some Saints!!!!!!!

As for my Monday.  Well I totally missed my work out this morning.  I think it was “sabotage by husband” lol.  My husband had some school work to do therefore he didn’t come to bed until after 2am.  I was counting on him to wake me up.  Oh he woke me up, at 7:47am to be at the gym for 8:15am.  Yeah, not so much.  But at least I kind of sorta stayed on my eat clean plan.  The only thing I ate that was not really good for you was the marshmallow fluff and ritz crackers.  But they were oh so good.

Tonight, my blog will have pictures…………….yay!

For breakfast:

I know it’s not really “clean” but it sure beats the alternative and it was oh so yummy!  I cannot wait to try a different flavor.  I also used Fat Free Skim Milk.  I am also thinking about putting some slivered almonds in it next time.

For dinner:

You do not see that bread 🙂  Baked salmon with lemon juice and basil.  Veggies: Portabello Mushrooms, zuchinni, and onion with lemon juice, basil, and garlic sea salt smothered in a skillet with EVOO!

All in all, my weekend of eating wasn’t too bad.  Now, tomorrow off to body pump.  Don’t forget to check out www. lesmills.com and watch the trailers they have for their programs!

Have a great night!
