What a Day! Tuesday, Feb 14 2012

The weatherman finally got it right.  We woke up to blankets of snow.  It was beautiful!  I have waited all winter for this.  I debated for a few minutes whether I should try to brave the roads to get to the gym or take a free day.  The gym won.  I was so proud of myself for deciding to go to the gym.  As I am driving and sliding down the road, I get over half way there and what do I find?  The road was closed.  I had to turn around and go completely around.  I arrived at the gym at 8:30 am. Step class starts at 8:15am  😦 I got in about 30 minutes.  I know I should have stayed and did a run on the treadmill but I was ready to get home and get warm and dry.

Todays eating didn’t go too bad.  I wasn’t really in the mood for breakfast but that is mainly because someone ate all of the bananas.  I had half a special k bar.  It was entirely too sweet.  But I knew I had to have something in my stomach.  For lunch, I didn’t do any better.  I had about a half of a cup of Reeses Peanut Butter Cereal…..shame on me.  But hey, I used fat free milk….lol.  For dinner, I had my Chicken Tortilla Soup. YUMMO!  My snacks today included a handful of mixed nuts, popcorn, and a couple of skittles.  Tonight was the last basketball game of the season for my oldest.  This is a good thing because now I will not be tempted to eat the popcorn and candy at the concession. 🙂

Now, I am about to drink some coffee with my hubby and hopefully go to bed very soon.  Tomorrow is our anniversary.  We have been married 14 years.  It doesn’t seem that long.  You may or may not see a post from me tomorrow!

Looking for some feedback:

Have any of you heard of Shakeology?  If so, do you recommend it?  I have a friend that is a beach body coach and has struck my interest.  I just do not know enough about it yet.

Just in case I do not make it on here tomorrow, I hope you all have a very Happy Valentines Day.

I will be posting my snow pics in a different post.  Stay tuned if you’re interested 🙂

HIATUS! Monday, Feb 13 2012

Hiatus-a break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc.

I do apologize for my absence.  It has been a crazy couple of weeks.  It seems like everytime I get the chance to sit down and put some thought into a post, someone wants something from me.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my children and my husband, but sometimes, mommy could use a drink break…. 🙂

The last couple of posts I made, I believe I told you that my goal was to make it to the gym 5 days a week.  Well, that hasn’t happened yet. However, I did make it there 4 days last week.  I would say, I am well on my way to meet my goal.  This week I am going to try to make it there the full 5 days.  But, check this out, if you can see it…..

Yep, that is snow. And lots of it.  WIth that being the case, I may or may not be snowed in….. 🙂

I am also going to check into a program my gym is offering to become a personal trainer.  I am so excited about this.  I still have quite a ways to go with my own goals, but this may be the thing that helps me reach it…  This is the first step on the road to getting my Body Step certification.  Wish me luck!

So, I wrapped up last week on a positive note…I got myself a pair of Uggs on sale.  I have always wanted a pair but I refuse to pay 2-3 hundred bucks for a pair of shoes.  Well, I only paid $35 for mine.  Yep that’s right.  Check it out, they may still have some.

And now just a couple of pics from my week!

That is what happens when you go to a basketball game that has concession stand!

 And my new haircut!

I would have to say that last week was a good one.

Have a great night y’all!

Did Someone Say Hamburger? Thursday, Feb 9 2012

Yes! Tonight I made hamburgers and homemade french fries.  The family was excited.  That is the most unclean meal I have cooked in months.  I was pretty surprised by it myself.  I only ate half of a burger and I served them on clean buns.  As the burgers were cooking, I commented to my husband how much differently they smell from what I usually cook.  They were Bubba Burgers and they smelled horrible while cooking.  They were good but you could tell a big difference in the meat from what I normally buy.  The family has been so supportive in the journey of clean eating, I figured I would let them cheat tonight.  I am not so sure I will be doing that again…..Ok, maybe I will.  I also made them strawberry milkshakes for dessert.  They weren’t all bad…..but, my sweet tooth needed to be tamed and the milkshake hit the spot.  I made them with fat free skim milk, a couple of shakes of my protein powder, fresh strawberries, and of course, Bryers Vanilla Ice Cream………….Ahhhhh, Yum!

As for the gym, it is looking like I might get my 5 days this week.  I am totally stoked about this.  I also started running agian on Monday.  You know, Spring is near and there will be a ton of 5k runs for me to participate in.  I may as well jump start my training now.  I can tell you this, I am sore.  I feel like a 90 year old woman after sitting for long periods.  As long as I stay active throughout the day, I don’t have a problem.  But don’t let me sit down for long….creek, crack, pop………! 🙂

Well I guess that is it for me tonight.  I have to go get ready for tomorrow.  Have a great night!

And I’m back…. Tuesday, Feb 7 2012

Wow what a week last week!  I did not reach my goal to be in the gym for 5 straight days.  However, I did two hours on Tuesday so I am going to count that as extra…  Don’t judge me 🙂

Thursday, I had to make a trip to whole foods, which takes a full day.  Friday, I had parent teacher conferences.  Those weren’t as exciting 🙂

I am happy to report that I didn’t falter too much on my clean eating.  Well until the SuperBowl.  I am sure that is no surprise and I am not the only one.  We had shrimp cocktail, swedish meatballs, asian noodle salad, homemade turtles, cake, and all kinds of chips.  I find it hard to watch the SuperBowl without a bag of Cheese Doritos.  YUM!

I have to be honest, I didn’t really watch the game until the last quarter.  It was kind of boring.  The commercials weren’t great either. Madonna did a fabulous job.  I was extremely shocked, yet impressed.   I was rooting for the Giants so I am glad they won.  Next year, WHO DAT, BABY!

Well, that is all for me tonight.  I am going to attempt to get in the bed a little earlier tonight.  I will be sharing more food pics this week from my e-mealz plan.

What was your favorite commercial during the SuperBowl?

I am still alive :) Monday, Feb 6 2012

Sorry I have been MIA lately.  Last week was a rough one.  I will be back with you all tonight or tomorrow night.  I hope you enjoyed your weekend!

Miss You Guys!

Just a couple of links….. Tuesday, Jan 31 2012

Here are a couple of links that might interest you.  These are in a seperate post because I want to keep my clean eating and exercise seperate.  However, these links are definitely worth seeing 🙂

The first one, Have you ever wondered what it is like in the Farm Business?  Well, here is a good friend of mine and her family giving you a daily glimpse into the life of Farming Family!

Also, I have friend that has an amazing singing talent.  Below are two links, one is of her singing Janis Joplin (awesome), the other is a Barbara Striesand song (also awesome).  Give her a listen and leave her your feedback if you want.

Hmmmmm…….. Tuesday, Jan 31 2012

Just in case any of you were wondering……………YES, IT IS MONDAY AGAIN! 🙂

However, it hasn’t been a bad day, it was busy.

  • 8:15-9:15am–Step Class
  • 10:00am–Coffee with the Marine Wives.  This is normally the highlight of my month.  Especially since we live on an Army Post and ther are so few of us Marine Wives.  Great group of women.  I am exctied about leaving Kansas in approximately 4 months, but I am going to miss these gals so much.
  • kids out of school
  • help with homework
  • oldest one picked up from basketball
  • cook dinner
  • do laundry

And the list goes on and on.

Speaking of cooking dinner.  I know I told you all on Friday that I would post a second one and well, I forgot.  Friday night I cooked Chicken and CousCous from my e-mealz menu.  Let me just say, “Not Great”.  For starters, it had way too much bell pepper and I wasn’t really fond of the golden raisins that the recipe called for.  If you would like the recipe, just let me know and you can try it for yourself.

Tonights dinner: Sausage, Collards and Bean Soup

This meal was delicious!

Body pump tomorrow! 🙂 This weeks goal is to spend at least 5 hours in the gym.  Wish me luck 🙂

Do you have any goals for the week?

RV SHOW! Friday, Jan 27 2012

I am very excited about the weekend being here.   However, it is going to be a busy one.  At 9am tomorrow morning my oldest has a basketball game.  Then, we are going to the WWI Museum with some friends and the middle son has to babysit.  I will be one tired person tomorrow.  Sunday it’s off to church for 11am and then on to Kansas City again for an RV Show.  I am looking forward to both days but I really like to look at RV’s.   My husband and I bought our first RV  last April.  We LOVE IT and so do the kids.  Some of them are sooooo nice.  Being a military wife, it is more practical to look and dream in the RV market than in the housing market.  Mainly because the RV can go with you anywhere you go.  With a house, you have to wait until you are closer to retirement to do much dreaming.  But I will take it…..:)

I hope you all have a great weekend!  Do you have a busy or relaxing weekend?

By the way, there will be a short post from me after I cook dinner.  Just to let you know how the Chicken and CousCous works out…..

Until then…………….

DOWN! :) Friday, Jan 27 2012

I had to be very careful with the name of this blog post.  I was thinking about “Going Down”, “Happily Down”, and “Down in a happy way”!  Bottom line heIre, there is no right way to put that depending on who may see this blog, if you get what I mean…  Truth is, I am down 3 more lbs! YAY!  That is such an awesome feeling especially seeing how I haven’t been able to complete one full week in the gym for whatever reason.  I will do better next week for sure.  It is really motivating when you see results.

I am hoping not to take up too much of your time but I have two nights of menu to report.  Last night I did not post  because I did not feel well.  I had been to the doctor.  Oh doctors!! I am glad we have them, but sometimes they make you think harder than you should about some things. For instance, she told me that Kansas hasn’t had a hard enough freeze for long enough to kill the mold spores…………….Say What?  Guess I can probably safely say they may be the problem with my allergies..Ya Think!?  I am stuffy 24 hours a day.  Wanna bet these old houses have mold spores?  Oh well as long as I do not get any worse, I only have to live here for 4 more months…..Not sure if that is good or bad! :p

On with the post…………..

I did in fact make it to step class yesterday.  It felt so nice to be back.  For breakfast, banana.  Lunch, I had a salad with tomato, and cucumber oh and some clean tortilla chips I bought from Whole Foods.  For dinner, I used my e-mealz menu and made turkey burgers. (Pic below)  Now, I have to say, these were very different.  They were not made with bread crumbs.  Instead they were made with old fashioned oats.  I was very impressed and so was the rest of the family.  Even the 9 year old.  Served with Chips and Cantaloupe!  Did you know that plain Lays potato chips are mostly clean?

For today.  Well, today I totally broke the rules.  I had 2 pieces of whole wheat toast.  For lunch and snack………wait for it……………wait for it……………ok now that you are wondering, I had popcorn, diet coke, and milk duds! EEEK.  Side story-Me and 2 of my Marine Wife friends decided that we wanted to go see a movie.  And so we did just that.  What is a movie without popcorn, what is popcorn without carbonation, and well, the  milk duds were just icing on the cake. LOL .  Don’t worry, I balanced it all out with dinner 🙂  Again, I used my e-mealz menu.  Tonights dinner, Grilled Cheese with Jalepenos! (pic below)  These were made with cream cheese, mayo, Monterey jack, and jalepeno slices on Wheatberry bread made by Earth Grains.  Mostly clean.  It was delicious.  My family didn’t partake so they had BLT’s.  I served grapes and pita chips with this meal!

By the way, we saw the movie Joyful Noise!  It was so good. 🙂  I totally recommend you see it too.  I would actually watch it again.  It was nice to see a movie in the middle of the day.

Now, I get to go eat some fruit…lol.  No really, I have to get my things together for step class tomorrow.  We are having Chicken and CousCous tomorrow night and I cannot wait.

Have a great night!
