Please forgive me! Friday, Mar 2 2012

Please forgive me for not entering the blog world lately.  It has been a crazy couple of weeks.  We found out that we are going to Tampa this summer.  But first, we have to go house hunting which means we will be doing that week after next.  Yep, a lot of miles from here to there.  I am excited and stressed all at the same time.  I know it will be worth it once we get there.  The kids are very excited about it too.  I hope to have pictures and plenty to tell once we get there.

Not much has changed for me.  I am still exercising.  Not eating as clean as I should but I haven’t given up.   I definitely need to get back into the groove as summer is approaching us.  I have yet to make it all 5 days in the gym but that goal is still there and totally reachable.  I haven’t seen any info on the spring 5k run.  That would be extremely motivating and I need all the motivation I can get….lol

I hope all is well for the rest of you.  I now have to get my gym stuff ready for tomorrow.

Have a great night everyone!

Valentines Thursday, Feb 16 2012

My Valentines was great!  My husband and I also celebrated our 14th year of marriage.  I cannot believe we have been married for so long.  It seems like it was just yesterday.  We have come along way in our marriage and in miles.

This was my Facebook post yesterday.  Side Story-Last night at midnight as I was making a Valentines box and candy and cards for Gavin to take to school today.  Ashley and I were talking about what we were doing at that moment 14 years ago.  I think we were both trying to shake some nerves, thinking about what the next day and the future was going to hold.  We have come along way!  So instead of making rice bags and worrying about how the flowers were going to look and how it was all going to work, we were helping our youngest get ready to celebrate this day that means so much to the two of us.  Amazing how life changes!

My honey cooked dinner for us last night.  We had spaghetti with meat sauce and french bread.  It seems like everyone here got either Godiva or Whitmans chocolate.  Needless to say my morning at the gym was rough.  I think it was all the pasta and chocolate.  I just wanted to sleep and so did my legs.  It was nice to take a break from clean eating and just let loose a little but I paid the price.  It just shows that what you eat can and does affect your day.  It also didn’t help that I didn’t have my daily banana….. 🙂 There must be a monkey or two living here, I cannot keep those things in this house.  All in all, it was a great day.  Honey and I are going out this weekend to celebrate and pick out our gift together.

I hope you all had a wonderful day filled with love:)

Now to prepare for tomorrows workout.  Running!  Oh and with my new Nike Sensor too!

What a Day! Tuesday, Feb 14 2012

The weatherman finally got it right.  We woke up to blankets of snow.  It was beautiful!  I have waited all winter for this.  I debated for a few minutes whether I should try to brave the roads to get to the gym or take a free day.  The gym won.  I was so proud of myself for deciding to go to the gym.  As I am driving and sliding down the road, I get over half way there and what do I find?  The road was closed.  I had to turn around and go completely around.  I arrived at the gym at 8:30 am. Step class starts at 8:15am  😦 I got in about 30 minutes.  I know I should have stayed and did a run on the treadmill but I was ready to get home and get warm and dry.

Todays eating didn’t go too bad.  I wasn’t really in the mood for breakfast but that is mainly because someone ate all of the bananas.  I had half a special k bar.  It was entirely too sweet.  But I knew I had to have something in my stomach.  For lunch, I didn’t do any better.  I had about a half of a cup of Reeses Peanut Butter Cereal…..shame on me.  But hey, I used fat free milk….lol.  For dinner, I had my Chicken Tortilla Soup. YUMMO!  My snacks today included a handful of mixed nuts, popcorn, and a couple of skittles.  Tonight was the last basketball game of the season for my oldest.  This is a good thing because now I will not be tempted to eat the popcorn and candy at the concession. 🙂

Now, I am about to drink some coffee with my hubby and hopefully go to bed very soon.  Tomorrow is our anniversary.  We have been married 14 years.  It doesn’t seem that long.  You may or may not see a post from me tomorrow!

Looking for some feedback:

Have any of you heard of Shakeology?  If so, do you recommend it?  I have a friend that is a beach body coach and has struck my interest.  I just do not know enough about it yet.

Just in case I do not make it on here tomorrow, I hope you all have a very Happy Valentines Day.

I will be posting my snow pics in a different post.  Stay tuned if you’re interested 🙂

HIATUS! Monday, Feb 13 2012

Hiatus-a break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc.

I do apologize for my absence.  It has been a crazy couple of weeks.  It seems like everytime I get the chance to sit down and put some thought into a post, someone wants something from me.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my children and my husband, but sometimes, mommy could use a drink break…. 🙂

The last couple of posts I made, I believe I told you that my goal was to make it to the gym 5 days a week.  Well, that hasn’t happened yet. However, I did make it there 4 days last week.  I would say, I am well on my way to meet my goal.  This week I am going to try to make it there the full 5 days.  But, check this out, if you can see it…..

Yep, that is snow. And lots of it.  WIth that being the case, I may or may not be snowed in….. 🙂

I am also going to check into a program my gym is offering to become a personal trainer.  I am so excited about this.  I still have quite a ways to go with my own goals, but this may be the thing that helps me reach it…  This is the first step on the road to getting my Body Step certification.  Wish me luck!

So, I wrapped up last week on a positive note…I got myself a pair of Uggs on sale.  I have always wanted a pair but I refuse to pay 2-3 hundred bucks for a pair of shoes.  Well, I only paid $35 for mine.  Yep that’s right.  Check it out, they may still have some.

And now just a couple of pics from my week!

That is what happens when you go to a basketball game that has concession stand!

 And my new haircut!

I would have to say that last week was a good one.

Have a great night y’all!

Did Someone Say Hamburger? Thursday, Feb 9 2012

Yes! Tonight I made hamburgers and homemade french fries.  The family was excited.  That is the most unclean meal I have cooked in months.  I was pretty surprised by it myself.  I only ate half of a burger and I served them on clean buns.  As the burgers were cooking, I commented to my husband how much differently they smell from what I usually cook.  They were Bubba Burgers and they smelled horrible while cooking.  They were good but you could tell a big difference in the meat from what I normally buy.  The family has been so supportive in the journey of clean eating, I figured I would let them cheat tonight.  I am not so sure I will be doing that again…..Ok, maybe I will.  I also made them strawberry milkshakes for dessert.  They weren’t all bad…..but, my sweet tooth needed to be tamed and the milkshake hit the spot.  I made them with fat free skim milk, a couple of shakes of my protein powder, fresh strawberries, and of course, Bryers Vanilla Ice Cream………….Ahhhhh, Yum!

As for the gym, it is looking like I might get my 5 days this week.  I am totally stoked about this.  I also started running agian on Monday.  You know, Spring is near and there will be a ton of 5k runs for me to participate in.  I may as well jump start my training now.  I can tell you this, I am sore.  I feel like a 90 year old woman after sitting for long periods.  As long as I stay active throughout the day, I don’t have a problem.  But don’t let me sit down for long….creek, crack, pop………! 🙂

Well I guess that is it for me tonight.  I have to go get ready for tomorrow.  Have a great night!

Hmmmmm…….. Tuesday, Jan 31 2012

Just in case any of you were wondering……………YES, IT IS MONDAY AGAIN! 🙂

However, it hasn’t been a bad day, it was busy.

  • 8:15-9:15am–Step Class
  • 10:00am–Coffee with the Marine Wives.  This is normally the highlight of my month.  Especially since we live on an Army Post and ther are so few of us Marine Wives.  Great group of women.  I am exctied about leaving Kansas in approximately 4 months, but I am going to miss these gals so much.
  • kids out of school
  • help with homework
  • oldest one picked up from basketball
  • cook dinner
  • do laundry

And the list goes on and on.

Speaking of cooking dinner.  I know I told you all on Friday that I would post a second one and well, I forgot.  Friday night I cooked Chicken and CousCous from my e-mealz menu.  Let me just say, “Not Great”.  For starters, it had way too much bell pepper and I wasn’t really fond of the golden raisins that the recipe called for.  If you would like the recipe, just let me know and you can try it for yourself.

Tonights dinner: Sausage, Collards and Bean Soup

This meal was delicious!

Body pump tomorrow! 🙂 This weeks goal is to spend at least 5 hours in the gym.  Wish me luck 🙂

Do you have any goals for the week?

Easy, Clean, and Yummy Dinner Wednesday, Jan 25 2012

Remember a couple of weeks ago I told you that I had joined  Well, tonight I made my first meal from their plan.  It was DELICIOUS!  Even the hubby and the kids liked it.  I was able to get my shopping done today for two weeks worth of menus.  I was pleasantly surprised when the cashier told me my total.  I bought several items (staples) outside of the menu that my family needed.  Are you ready for this?  I spent under $200.  Yep, that’s right.  If I keep this up, that means my grocery bill for a family of 5 for a month should come in under $500!  You cannot beat that.  Not to mention, the meal was extremely easy to make.  I signed up for the natural and organic menu, therefore, I bought as many “clean” ingredients as I could and that was most of them…….There were a couple of things I wasn’t able to get but that just means I get a trip to Whole Foods….Yay! 🙂

These are Shredded Pork Tacos.  I apologize for the picture being a little out of focus.

Here we have:

Shredded Pork Tenderloin (seasoned with cumin, pepper, salt, coriander, chili powder)

Sour Cream

Roasted Corn with bell peppers and jalapenos

Served on a Flour tortilla (not so clean 😦 and topped with pepper jack cheese Kinda clean)

This dish was awesome.  The Roasted corn mixture was supposed to be served on the side but as you can see, I wanted it in my taco…

If you get the chance to get over to to check it out, I say it is totally worth it.  Especially if you are a busy person.  I know I am…..

As for the gym today, I was still feeling kinda under the weather so I took off.  But have no fear, I am all in tomorrow.  I cannot wait to get back.  It stinks not getting my work out in.

Well have a great night!

A Blah Kind of Monday! Tuesday, Jan 24 2012

I know it’s really no surprise to have a bad Monday but come on.  I woke up this morning feeling really badly.  Sinus and allergy problems are no fun.  It really makes for an ineffective day.  Therefore, no Body Step for me today 😦 and seeing how I do not feel 100%, there will probably be no gym for me tomorrow either 😦  I really hate this because it makes me feel so lazy.  There once was a time when I would welcome the opportunity find any excuse not to go to the gym.  Since I started cleaning up my eating habits and making the gym a priority, I really hate to miss.  I schedule everything around it.  But that’s ok.  I guess it’s better to get myself well so that I do not over exert and end up in worse shape.

With that said, my oldest had a basketball game at 7pm.  Weird time but it is a tournament.  These games normally do not have concession because they aren’t long enough.  Well, tonight this school had popcorn.  I smelled it as I sat down.  Yes, yes I did indulge.  I had popcorn and soda and starburst and skittles and that’s it.  Now, I didn’t have all of those by myself.  We shared them between 4 of us and 2 of those being children.  It was just something I was wanting. 🙂

I am cutting it short tonight because I had to take benadryl and I cannot be held responsible for I type under the influence…

Have a great night!!!!!!

What a Weekend! Tuesday, Jan 17 2012

My weekend has been kind of slow.  I am still in complete shock that the Saints lost on Saturday!  I was so happy for my boys until the 49ers had to make that last touchdown.  I was literally sick to my stomach.  It is ok though, I know the next season will be a great one.  No matter what, I love me some Saints!!!!!!!

As for my Monday.  Well I totally missed my work out this morning.  I think it was “sabotage by husband” lol.  My husband had some school work to do therefore he didn’t come to bed until after 2am.  I was counting on him to wake me up.  Oh he woke me up, at 7:47am to be at the gym for 8:15am.  Yeah, not so much.  But at least I kind of sorta stayed on my eat clean plan.  The only thing I ate that was not really good for you was the marshmallow fluff and ritz crackers.  But they were oh so good.

Tonight, my blog will have pictures…………….yay!

For breakfast:

I know it’s not really “clean” but it sure beats the alternative and it was oh so yummy!  I cannot wait to try a different flavor.  I also used Fat Free Skim Milk.  I am also thinking about putting some slivered almonds in it next time.

For dinner:

You do not see that bread 🙂  Baked salmon with lemon juice and basil.  Veggies: Portabello Mushrooms, zuchinni, and onion with lemon juice, basil, and garlic sea salt smothered in a skillet with EVOO!

All in all, my weekend of eating wasn’t too bad.  Now, tomorrow off to body pump.  Don’t forget to check out www. and watch the trailers they have for their programs!

Have a great night!

It really is Monday! Tuesday, Oct 18 2011

After the my fast food establishment disaster (will post picture) this weekend I learned two things.

1. Don’t eat fast food and always have something healthy in my purse before going out, just in case the hungry feeling visits me!

2. Not a good idea to stray away from good eating habits during the week because it can and will interfere with your exercise routine.

With that said:  I went to step today and had a blast as usual.  However, I found that I was really suggish.  Didn’t know if I would be able to make it through, but I did. The food from yesterday made me sick and with a terrible case of indigestion.  I left the gym after step class to come home and take some prilosec…..but it didn’t slow me down.  I went back  to attend a Zumba class.  WOW, I didn’t realize that your body was supposed to move like that.  This class was very different from any I had taken in the past.  All in all, I liked it and will go back.

After all of that working out I decided to have lunch.

A little background: I decided to start the eat clean diet a couple of weeks ago.  The only thing I knew about the diet was that you were supposed to eat clean.  Ok great, I can do that.  A friend of mine went to the whole foods store with me to gather some ingredients and to explore the store for future trips.  I have always heard that organic foods are a great way to “eat clean and healthy”.  I was so proud of myself for making healthy choices. I bought a good bit of organic food but didn’t go crazy.  I bought some chicken pot pies and a broccoli pot pie (both organic).  So after the gym today I thought the broccoli pot pie sounded yummy.  I warmed the pie and decided to sit down and watch some TV.  I got up to get some water while my pie was cooling and thought I should bring the box back with me to read (because this is all new to me).  Boy oh boy was I surprised…..24grams of fat.  Whoa!!!!

Lesson learned today-It is a great idea to eat clean and healthy, however, reading labels still applies.  Just because the item is organic doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have FAT!  Be careful.
